Advocacy is the act of supporting a cause or proposal with the aim to influence policy and decisions. To advocate is to support, propose, or question topics that are important to us.
Ways to Advocate:
|
- Obtain updates on the issue by signing up for our newsletter at the bottom of this page.
- Find out how government works , who the players are, and advocate for Eat, Play, Learn policies.
- Start making the case for healthy eating and active living.
- Attend and participate in candidate forums. When elections approach, candidates for office go into the community for forums and town hall meetings. This is a great time to find out if candidates for office are on children's side.
- Vote for child-friendly or health-conscious candidates.
- Get in touch with government leaders about your issue: call or write to them, or pay a visit.
- Get the word out: for example, by writing a letter to the editor of your local paper.
- Build relationships with elected leaders and their staff through continued engagement.
- Involve others in the effort--connect your friends with what you care about.
